Vilseck Elementary 5th Graders Visit Netzaberg Middle School

The 5th grade students from Vilseck Elementary had an exciting and informative visit to Netzaberg Middle School to prepare for their transition next year. The visit began with a warm welcome from the guidance counselor, who spoke to the students about what to expect in middle school. The school psychologist and nurse also addressed the students, providing valuable insights and support.
Prior to this visit, the guidance counselor had already met with the 5th graders at Vilseck Elementary to discuss their class options and the middle school schedule, ensuring they were well-prepared for the transition.
During their visit to Netzaberg Middle School, the students were treated to performances by the drama students, adding a touch of entertainment to the day. They also received detailed explanations about various clubs available at Netzaberg Middle School, including the Junior Leadership Seminar, Sweet Science, and the National Junior Honor Society.
One of the highlights of the visit was the demonstration by 6th grade students on how to open a locker. This practical session covered all the basics the 5th graders would need to be prepared for middle school. The 5th graders were then divided into groups of three and paired with 6th grade students who answered any questions they had.
To ensure they made the most of their visit, the 5th grade students came prepared with five questions each, which they were expected to have answered by the end of the tour. They also had the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and see the assignments that current students were working on.
This field trip is coordinated yearly by 5th grade teacher Ms. Michelle Sizemore and the middle school guidance counselor Ms. Cynthia Nicholson. Overall, the visit was a great success, providing the 5th graders with a comprehensive introduction to middle school life and helping to ease any anxieties about the upcoming transition.
