Vilseck Elementary Wax Museum

Vilseck Elementary School recently showcased the talents of its fifth grade students in an interactive and educational event: the Living Wax Museum. Guided by teachers Rosa Coss and Charlenda Sizemore, students researched and brought to life the stories of famous historical figures, culminating in a dynamic presentation for parents, teachers, and fellow students.
The students' "I can" statement for the project was: "I can research and gather relevant, credible information about a famous person, and summarize their life and accomplishments." This set the foundation for a comprehensive learning experience, emphasizing key educational standards.
Throughout the project, students demonstrated their skills by:
- Writing informative texts to examine topics and clearly convey ideas.
- Conducting research using multiple sources to build knowledge.
- Applying standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
- Reporting on topics with relevant details, speaking clearly and at an understandable pace.
- Adapting speech to various contexts and using formal English when appropriate.
The Living Wax Museum was the culmination of weeks of research and preparation. On the event day, students selected a famous historical figure, dressed as them, and stood still like a wax statue until a visitor pressed a button, activating them to "come to life" and present their well-researched narratives.
The event proved to be an engaging and fun way for students to enhance their research, writing, and presentation skills while learning about key historical figures. The hard work and creativity of the fifth graders, paired with the guidance of Coss and Sizemore, made the event a memorable experience for all involved.
Congratulations to the fifth grade students for their outstanding achievements in bringing history to life at Vilseck Elementary School!
